With more than 25 dynamic student organizations ranging from national chapters to student-created groups, there's an organization—or two—for everyone. Meet new people, receive coaching and mentoring, network, build your resume and have fun with these student-run organizations.
American Institute of Chemical Engineers
This undergraduate student organization is responsible for being the link between the local and national AIChE chapters for chemical engineers. Events are held throughout the year to connect students, faculty and industry in an attempt to further the career goals of declared chemical engineering majors.
American Society of Civil Engineers
The Case Western Reserve University student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers has a mission to provide essential value to members, their engineering education, their careers, partners and the public by developing leadership, advancing technology, advocating lifelong learning and promoting the profession to civil engineering students at Case Western Reserve University.
American Society of Mechanical Engineers
CWRU's student chapter of ASME has an aim to improve the technical and personal skills of members and provide them with the resources to succeed beyond Case Western Reserve University.
Association for Computing Machinery
This computer science interest group puts on a variety of events including technical talks, study sessions, hackathons and programming competitions.
Baja Society of Automotive Engineers
Baja SAE is an international collegiate competition series hosted by SAE. Engineering students from around the world design and build lightweight off-road cars from the ground up. Teams then compete against other colleges in a number of events, which examine the performance, durability, marketing, cost and design of the cars.
Billion Bottle Project
The Billion Bottle Project is a non-profit working to increase access to clean drinking water by enhancing the solar disinfection (SODIS) technique. By making SODIS easier to use, BBP is working towards a world where every family has a sustainable source of clean drinking water that protects them from waterborne disease.
Biomedical Engineering Society
Case Western Reserve's Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is a student chapter of the national professional society for biomedical engineers. The chapter provides undergraduate students opportunities to engage with fellow undergrads, graduate students and faculty. Events are focused on making lasting connections and gaining experiences that will benefit students for their whole careers.
Case Aeronautics Team
This club primarily designs, builds and flies a large scale custom RC aircraft for an annual competition each year hosted by Cessna and Raytheon. The required task varies each year, ranging from aerobatic maneuvers to carrying and dropping payloads. We also explore autonomous flight and quad-copters.
Case Amateur Radio Club
W8EDU is the amateur ham radio club of Case Western Reserve University. Unlike the university's WRUW radio station, which broadcasts radio for public listening, ham radio operators transmit on the radio to communicate with one another. Ham radio operators make contacts around the world, and include many diverse hobby groups.
Case Engineers Council
The Case Engineers Council (CEC) is a unique organization on campus that connects the engineering departments, university organizations and students that are passionate about engineering. We promote the collaboration of students, faculty and corporate relations through discussions, lectures, community outreach, social events and company networking. The council coordinates and hosts the school's annual Engineers Week.
Case Rocket Team
The Case Rocket Team, which is always looking for new members, participates in high-power rocketry competitions and other aerospace-related events in the area and throughout the nation, including the annual Battle of the Rockets (BotR) competition.
CWRU Hacker Society
This student group seeks to promote an open society through understanding and improving the technology which underpins it. It is maintained by the CWRU chapters of ACM and IEEE.
CWRU MedWish
CWRU MedWish, in partnership with MedWish International—a Cleveland-based organization—helps sort, test and repair used medical equipment that is being sent for use in developing countries. CWRU MedWish provides a great opportunity for hands-on experience with medical equipment and is open to anyone who wants to join.
CWRUbotix: Robotics Club
Case Western Reserve University's undergraduate student robotics club participates in NASA's Annual Robotics Mining Competition and the National Robotics Challenge.
Design for America
Design for America (DFA) is an award-winning nationwide network of interdisciplinary student teams and community members using design to create local and social impact. DFA students use the design process to create and implement solutions to real-world problems.
Global Health Design Collaboration (GHDC)
The Global Health Design Collaboration (GHDC) is a multi-level interdisciplinary organization that aims to integrate social science and engineering disciplines in the development of relevant, sustainable solutions to health concerns in Uganda. Specifically, GHDC seeks to utilize the theoretical perspectives and methodologies of sociocultural anthropology to identify local health concerns within an emic model, and then apply these factors as inputs to an engineering design process to produce culturally appropriate and sustainable solutions.
Hack CWRU
Brings together bright and creative students to promote unrestricted technological innovation. Each year, Hack CWRU hosts a regional hackathon at CWRU.
Humanitarian Design Corps
This student group works in conjunction with Engineers Without Borders and is committed to improving the well-being of disadvantaged populations through engineering.
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers
The student branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers at Case Western Reserve University is committed to working with students involved with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The chapter provides valuable extracurricular opportunities for students in the form of networking and social events, technical presentations and competitions.
Macromolecular Student Organization
The Macromolecular Student Organization (MSO) serves as a representative student body for graduate students in the department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering. Their goals are to facilitate communication between professors, staff and students, organize various professional development opportunities, and to advocate for grad students' interests. They aim to foster a supportive community for all graduate students to study hard, have fun, and feel at home in our department.
National Society of Black Engineers
The National Society of Black Engineers is a student chapter that is dedicated to promoting professionalism; supporting and retaining minorities in STEM fields; excelling in community oureach and enhancing chapter-wide networking.
Phi Sigma Rho
Phi Sigma Rho is a social sorority for women in engineering and engineering technology that helps members develop the highest standard of personal integrity, strive for academic excellence, and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) chapter at Case Western Reserve University is an organization that allows students to network, learn and create change for the next generation.
Society of Women Engineers
Case Western Reserve University's Society of Women Engineers chapter is an educational and service-oriented professional organization that promotes the development of women in STEM fields at the collegiate and professional levels. Tau Beta Pi – The Engineering Honor Society
Tau Beta Pi is the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It is the nation's second-oldest honor society, with a mission to recognize those who have conferred honor upon their alma mater by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students in engineering. The Case Western Reserve chapter hosts peer tutoring sessions, professional development workshops and service events.

WISER strives to promote the inclusion and success of all women pursuing a STEMM-related career at Case Western Reserve University through leadership, mentorship and outreach. WISER is open to all women CWRU students (undergraduate, graduate and professional) with a major or planning a career in science, technology, engineering, medicine or math.
